Over the last two years, my wife and I have taken advantage of the long Thanksgiving break to explore our neighbor islands (see some of our Lanai and Hawaii Island posts). This year, however, we weren’t able to leave Oahu…and so we decided that since we couldn’t hop on a plane, we would instead jump in our car for a sweet little staycation.
A bunch of breakfast/brunch places have been opening up on the island lately—bills Sidney, Koko Head Cafe, The Nook, and now Scratch Kitchen & Bake Shop. We love to eat breakfast on the weekends, especially since that’s the only time when we really get to do so together due to our work schedules. While looking at Scratch’s menu on their website, I knew that I wanted to go there for breakfast. But more than breakfast, I wanted to check out their dinner offerings. We will just have to return for breakfast another day.
While having a pretty laid back morning this past Wednesday (which happened to be a Hawaiian holiday, Prince Kuhio Day), I suddenly had a craving for beef cheeks. Yes, beef cheeks. To think, I never had that dish before, but it was due to him raving about it for months that I’ve had it on my list of foods to try. Before I told him of my lunch plans, I had already made reservations on OpenTable.
