With temperatures dipping into the 60’s during our little holiday getaway to Lanai, afternoon tea seemed like a good way to warm up. Besides, I’m always looking for places to have tea and dainty sandwiches and desserts.

Maui + Lanai: A Short Film by Kaz Kang
Excellent video with views of both Maui and Lanai. Filmmaker Kaz Kang used a Sony Alpha a7S to shoot the video. Combine a quality camera with good glass and a creative eye, and the possibilities are endless. Also check out his 500px, some great stuff.
Hiking The Koloiki Ridge Trail For Views of Maui and Molokai
One of the perks of staying at the Four Seasons Resort, The Lodge at Koele, is the easy access to the trailhead to the Koloiki Ridge Trail. The trail is about 5-miles long, but can be done in about 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. The trail is well marked and fairly wide. It also intersects the long Munro Trail, which many people traverse using a utility vehicle or 4-wheel drive.
Wandering Around The Lodge at Koele, Four Seasons Resort Lanai
Lanai is closing. Sort of. On January 5, The Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele, will be closing its doors for about a year. The second major resort on the island, Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay, will also be closed for about 5 months starting June 2015.
Hello: Lanai
It’s been a while since I’ve played around with video. As the happy owner of the recently released iPhone 6 Plus, I thought that I would give its video camera a try. What better place to play around with the video camera than during our short Thanksgiving adventure on the small island of Lanai.
Room Service: Late Night Hot Chocolate and “S’mores” at the Lodge at Koele
After having a wonderful dinner at Nobu at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay, we decided to catch the complementary Four Seasons shuttle back to the Lodge at Koele. It was a chilly November night. What better way to enjoy the rest of the evening than with late night hot chocolate, in the the Lodge’s Great Hall, next to the fireplace.
Nobu at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay
Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa’s Nobu on Lanai opened less than two years ago at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay. Celebrity chef and restaurateur, Chef Matsuhisa, is known for his new style Japanese cuisine, which fuses traditional Japanese dishes with Peruvian ingredients. He’s also considered to be a favorite of Lanai’s majority owner, Larry Ellison. The co-founder and CEO of Oracle, and fifth richest man in the world, owns 97 percent of the island. I’ve dined at Nobu Honolulu before, but this would be my first time experiencing the Manele Bay location.
Visiting The Tragic Puu Pehe – Lanai’s Sweetheart Rock
Puu Pehe, also referred to by locals as The Sweetheart Rock, is one of Lanai’s most iconic landmarks. Located just off of the southern coastline, Puu Pehe is situated between Manele Bay and Hulupoe Bay. The 80-feet islet is roughly a 45 minute walk from the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay.
