The classic Old Fashioned has been on my mind as of late. Maybe it’s because I stumbled upon the wonderful Old Fashioned 101 website by Martin Doudoroff. Maybe it’s all those episodes of Mad Men that I’ve been watching on Netflix. In any case, my friends and I decided to experience an Old Fashioned at the recently opened Bethel Street Tap Room. In many ways, it was very fitting that the new W Bistro at 1010 opened alongside the Hawaii tour of the Broadway hit, The Lion King. W Bistro bills itself as being at the center of food, art, and conversation. The restaurant sits on the corner of Victoria St. & King St, and is located between the Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Hawaii-inspired giclee prints line the walls of the small bistro, established by owners Richard and Judy Weinstein. But how’s the food? I’d say that it’s on par with its artistic counterparts across the street.
