Scratch Kitchen and Meatery at South Shore Market, Ward Village

We first visited Scratch Kitchen more than three years ago when they were located in Downtown, Honolulu. They’re no longer at their original location, instead, they’ve moved into new digs at the South Shore Market at Ward Village. They may have moved, but you can still expect to find some of their most popular dishes. Also, as you salivate through the photos, do keep in mind that the menu at Scratch is seasonal…and so some of the items that you see below may no longer be offered.

Brekky is served from opening (7:30am) to 3:00pm. Our go to breakfast at Scratch? All of it.

Some iced coffee to start.

Scratch Kitchen & Meatery owner Brian Chan is no stranger to the kitchen. You’ll often see him with his welcoming smile, working alongside his cooks. His family is well known in the Downtown restaurant scene. The always busy Little Village is one of their restaurants and they also operated the once popular (now closed) Restaurant Epic.

Some scenes from behind the counter…

Hollandaise all day long…

EVERYTHING on the breakfast menu should be on your radar…

New England Oyster Chowder with fried leeks and scallion oil.

The Cochon de Lait Eggs Benny features slow roasted pork, fried green tomatoes, and sunny-side up eggs.

Look at that yolk ooze out. Yes, I judge breakfast joints based on yolk flow…

Steak and Eggs…deviled eggs, that is. By the way, that steak…went through a 16-hour sous vide process. OMG yummy.

The famous Milk & Cereal Pancakes. For some people, these pancakes from Scratch Kitchen is the definition of living…

That milk syrup sauce…the more the better!
