5 To Try: Waikiki Coffee Shops You Must Try

There’s a lot going on in Waikiki, and to experience it all, you’ll need fuel..and I can’t think of anything better than a nice hot (or ice cold) cup of coffee. Turns out, there’s no shortage of coffee shops in Waikiki.

Honolulu Coffee Company, PRINCE WAIKIKI. Originally opened in 1992 with just a tiny kiosk in Downtown Honolulu, the Honolulu Coffee Company has since expanded to locations on Hawaii Island, Maui, and even Japan, Canada, and Guam. I like visiting the new Prince Waikiki location because I get to enjoy my cup of Joe while relaxing at the nearby boat harbor.

Kai Coffee Waikiki, HYATT REGENCY WAIKIKI BEACH RESORT AND SPA. If you’d like a bow tie to go along with your latte, then Kai Coffee is the place to go. Located in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Kai Coffee is known for their espresso based menu. Favorites include their machiatto, cappucino, and latte drinks.

Kona Coffee Purveyors, INTERNATIONAL MARKET PLACE. The cold brew at Kona Coffee Purveyors is definitely worth a try, especially when paired with one of their delicious Kouign Amman flaky cakes. A perfect pairing, in my opinion.

Gorilla in the Cafe, BANK OF HAWAII WAIKIKI CENTER. This is the one spot on the list that you’ll be most likely to spot a Korean pop star. Why, you ask? Gorilla in the Cafe is the work of K-drama star Bae Yong Joon. He also has a restaurant in Korea named Gorilla in the Kitchen.

Island Gourmet Coffee, DUKES LANE MARKET & EATERY. This cafe is located next to a variety of dining options, including The Bakery, where you can grab an artisanal donut to go along with your coffee. I would recommend the Maple Bacon Donut with a cup of 100% Kona coffee. Black, of course.
