There’s nothing like a good getaway. On an island like Oahu, such a place might be hard to find, especially if you’re looking for it in the middle of Waikiki. Not to worry, because tucked away on Kuhio Avenue is a lively boutique hotel ready to give you that getaway: Vive Hotel Waikiki.
The main entrance to the Vive Hotel Waikiki fronts Kuhio Avenue, just one street away from the main Waikiki strip, Kalakaua Avenue.
The first thing that I noticed was the gorgeous, spacious, and whimsical lobby, or, as the Vive calls it: The Living Room. This is the perfect spot to just hang out and lounge, send out a few emails, or blog about your Hawaii adventures.
Upon checking in, you are greeted with a friendly hello, a clean hand towel, and a refreshing cup of pineapple orange juice. What a great way to begin any getaway. And then when you step into your room, Andy Warhol is there waiting to greet you…
The ocean view rooms are worth booking…
…but the real gems are the rooms that have views of both Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. Waikiki Beach is just a short 5-minute walk from the Vive and Kapiolani Park near the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium is a mere 10-minutes away.
It’s Waikiki so expect to spend some time at the beach…and when you come back, a comfy bed will be waiting for you. The Vive hosted us in the Lifestyle Jr. Suite, which featured a pair of lounge chairs, a desk overlooking Diamond Head, and a comfortable king-sized bed.
We had a little gift waiting for us…a box of Godiva Chocolates. Yes, please. And, thank you!
The bathroom was modern, but it was the oversized shower area that really impressed us…it was very spacious. Oh my goodness how I wanted to take that shower space home with me.
The Vive makes use of the Keypr tablet system for services to the room. It was through the Keypr System that we received messages from Flour & Barley that guests at the Vive receive 15% off their order. What a yummy perk!
The daily complimentary breakfast is a must at the Vive Hotel Waikiki. Fresh fruit like pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon come precut in generous portions. The selection of pastries is the perfect fuel for your island adventures that will follow. If you enjoy fruits and croissants then you’ll be in breakfast heaven.
The Living Room is where I spent most of my time. It’s the perfect place to just cozy up with a book. Also, feel free to grab the morning paper, courtesy of the Vive. The Living Room was my favorite part of the hotel and it would definitely be one of the main reasons why I’d recommend this boutique hotel to friends and family.
One of my favorite spots in The Living Room is the Recycled Reads Library. Grab a book and enjoy…I did.
