There are Tommy Bahama restaurants located around the world, but there’s only one in Waikiki. When I heard that they had a new Backyard BBQ & Brews menu, well, you know that I just had to check it out.
Summer isn’t over just yet…this special BBQ menu is calling your name.
Kalakaua Avenue, in the heart of Waikiki, on a lazy Sunday morning. The second floor dining room is spacious and the perfect place to people watch in Waikiki.
To start…how about some drinks to match the Waikiki vibe…a plantation iced tea…
…and a virgin mojito…
BBQ? Yes please. The Guava Glazed Baby Back Ribs are a must try. The mango-guava BBQ sauce will leave you licking your fingers.
I love tempura…but a Tempura Battered Hot Dog? This dish piqued my interest.
The tempura hot dog comes with a side of tempura asparagus, too. Strangely satisfying.
Yep, there sure is a hot dog under that tempura batter…an Eisenberg Beef Hotdog. I really enjoyed this hot dog, especially with the pickled vegetables and Sriracha aioli.
Our waiter said that we had to try the Teriyaki Burger…
It’s massive. The Portuguese sausage adds a nice local twist, but the jalapeño pineapple relish really kick things up a notch.
Layers. It’s about the layers. I’ve never had Portuguese sausage (a local favorite) in a burger before…and I bet you haven’t either. Like the Tempura Hot Dog…you’ve got to taste it!
