We’re fans of Chef Peter Merriman, but you already knew that. If you’ve had the chance to enjoy dinner at his flagship restaurant on the Big Island, then the next logical Merriman location to check out would be Merriman’s Kapalua, located on the luxurious Kapalua coastline. On Sunday mornings…they do brunch. And they do brunch right.
The first thing that you’ll notice is the view…
At night, the hanging lights set the tone by making the ocean glow. In the early morning, the serene calm of the ocean will sing while you dine.
There are a variety of drinks on the menu, both hand-pressed and alcoholic.
We chose both, hand-pressed orange juice with a splash of champagne.
Some warm and moist banana bread to start…with locally churned butter..because…why not? I’m picky when it comes to banana bread, but this one I really, really liked.
…and bacon…you can’t have breakfast without bacon.
This is Merriman’s Keahole Lobster Benedict. This is why you come to brunch at Merriman’s. It’s both visually unusual and stimulating and the same time. And it’ll light your taste buds up.
Lobster claws poached eggs and avocado topped with a jalapeño hollandaise. Whoa.
A perfectly poached egg over cavatelli pasta, Anuhea asparagus, Hamakua mushrooms…and of course, more bacon.
When it comes to food, is there anything more gratifying than the simple action of cutting into a perfectly poached egg?
And while you eat…this is what you get to look at and enjoy. I suggest that you get that coffee refill (or order more champagne)…sit back…and just enjoy the view and moment for as long as you can. It really is stellar.
Merriman’s provide complimentary valet parking and the Kapalua Resort offers free shuttle service throughout the resort for guests.
