Oahu might have paved the way for the explosive popularity of local style shave ice, but Kauai has quickly taken over as the king of the fresh fruit shave ice movement. The Fresh Shave, owned by Daniel & Priscilla Soule chooses to use all-natural, local, and organic produce in their shave ice. Plus, they infuse a bit of hipster fun by mustache-ing up every detail of your shave ice eating experience. Mustaches aside, the shave ice at The Fresh Shave simply taste great.
The hella cute Fresh Shave food truck.
The Professor (berry and acai syrup) topped off with apple bananas, shredded coconut, and homegrown Kauai honey.
The Professor for a professor.
At the Fresh Shave, The Fu Manchu comes packed with a strawberry, banana, and cream syrup that is topped with strawberry puree and apple bananas. It is glorious.
Both Michelle and Joel got the Fu Manchu, which, coincidentally is the “most popular flavor by far” according to The Fresh Shave owner co-owner Priscilla Soule.
And this is The Caterpillar, the second flavor that I tried. The fresh oranges are the perfect topping for the sweet creamsicle syrup. Heavenly.
If you find yourself on Kauai, headed toward Kalaheo and Waimea Canyon, then The Fresh Shave is a must visit pit stop for a healthy sugar fix.
