A Turtle Bay Staycation and a Weekend North Shore Itinerary

Over the last two years, my wife and I have taken advantage of the long Thanksgiving break to explore our neighbor islands (see some of our Lanai and Hawaii Island posts). This year, however, we weren’t able to leave Oahu…and so we decided that since we couldn’t hop on a plane, we would instead jump in our car for a sweet little staycation.

12 Hours In Maui With Island Air

A few weeks ago, our friends over at Island Air asked me to participate in a 12-hour island hopping adventure. The goal? Hank’s Haute Dogs

In 2007, Hank Adaniya walked away from his highly acclaimed Chicago-based restaurant, Trio, to move to Hawaii to open a hot dog stand. This seemingly random diversion was nothing of the sort since his parents owned a small hot dog stand in Waikiki during the 1940’s. Fortunately for Adaniya, the high-end hot dog idea was a success and has become a go-to favorite for locals craving a great hot dog.

Java Kai Coffee Bar And Their Japanese Flash Brew

Mission: Find great coffee…in Kauai. I quickly realized that I didn’t have to travel very far to taste the best coffee that Kauai has to offer. Java Kai, located in the bustling small town of Kapaa, is home to the best cuppa joe on the island.
