Searching For The Mighty Mouse Bunkers

Tucked away on Oahu is a valley hike with a hidden swimming hole and a forgotten bunker. This one actually consists of a long tunnel and bunker system that goes on for quite a while. Someone decided to spray paint an image of Mighty Mouse on one end of the bunker, hence the name that I made up for it during our hike, Mighty Mouse Bunkers. Appropriate, right? You’ll need a headlamp for this one.

  1. I think I know what hike this is, been researching it myself lately… Found it interesting that none of the more current hiking bloggers have blogged about this hike/bunkers (maybe due to its access), I’m guessing that’s why the bunker photos were limited. Where the trails to the bunkers in OK condition? I’ve researched two routes, one from the neighborhood to the East through a gulch, the other from the “book” starting near a water tank. Do you mind sharing which way you went. Did the trail condition or bunkers look like many people visited? Thanks!
