Holoholo Weekly: Vintage Hiking Advice, Modern Honolulu, and the Big Island Chocolate Festival

Holoholo Weekly is a compilation of stories and tidbits that we’ve collected from around the web. It’s like a weekly mystery grab bag of Hawaii related goodness, featuring different articles of interest, fun images, videos, products, deals, downloads, and more.

My pick of the week is this news clipping from the now defunct Honolulu Advertiser, circa 1967. The article features timeless Hawaii hiking advice from Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club (HTMC) legend, Dick Davis. Hat tip to Chase Norton for digging this up from the HTMC archives.

Cameron Crowe’s Untitled Hawaii Project is untitled no more. Sony Pictures released the first trailer for Aloha, starring Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and Rachel McAdams. Can’t wait for this.

Kauai is featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2015 Swimsuit Edition…sort of. Hanna Davis is the cover model and Kauai is the background. Flip through the magazine, though, and you’ll see Kauai featured throughout 22 pages of the magazine. The Garden Isle did a nice write-up on the SI feature. And here’s a clip of Jimmy Fallon unveiling the cover on The Tonight Show:
