Chocolate Cafe? Say no more, you had me at chocolate.
This inaugural pop-up event by Hawaii’s culinary power couple, Chefs Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr-Ueoka, attracted a crowd of chocolate lovers who started lining up about half an hour before their opening. The featured ingredient of the month was presented in sweet and savory dishes, in different stages of its life cycle, from pulp to pudding.
Undeterred by the sugar rush that would later ensue us, we shared several decadent sweets that evening.
Followed by the “Evolution of Chocolate” — cacao sorbet, chocolate fudgesicle, chocolate tuile.
Then, the “Waialua Chocolate Pudding” and “Chocolate Mousse Trifle” (fudge brownies, “crispy chocolate,” à la minute mousse).
I think we definitely saved the best for last. The “MW Chocolate Cake” was probably the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had.
And when we had our fill of eating all the sweets we could, we bagged some “grab and go” chocolate menu items.
Chocolate Truffle Macarons
Waialua Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Fudge Brownie Cookies
Missed last month’s Chocolate Cafe? Well, we can only hope that chocolate will make a reappearance at a future pop-up at MW restaurant.
If you’re a cheese lover, the next pop-up is for you. MW Restaurant will be having a “Cheese Cafe” on Friday, 2/27/2015, 6:00-9:00 p.m. in their private dining room. See you there!
