Holoholo Weekly: Whales Chasing Dolphins, Standout Spas, Iconic Hawaii Restaurant, and Troubled Lei

Holoholo Weekly is a compilation of stories and tidbits that we’ve collected from around the web. It’s like a weekly mystery grab bag of Hawaii related goodness, featuring different articles of interest, fun images, videos, products, deals, downloads, and more.

My pick of the week goes to Erin Lundy, who spontaneously filmed a humpback whale chasing dolphins off the Waianae coast.

“Off the Waianae coast this morning, we got in the water to do a dolphin swim and immediately a humpback swam close to us following the dolphins, seeming to chase them playfully.”

Conde Nast also revealed their Gold List 2015 of the Seven Hotels with Standout Spas. This is seven spas in the whole entire world, and one spa from Hawaii made the list: The Spa at the Travaasa Hana.

Lee Breslouer of Thrillist lists the 50 Most Iconic Restaurant In Every State. Can you guess which Hawaii restaurant made the list? Hint: The steaks are to Dy for.

Speaking of Obama, why does he always choose Kailua as his family’s winter getaway? Landess Kearns of the Huffington Posts offers 7 Hawaii Destinations The Obamas Should Escape To. (PS: I’d also recommend the The Lodge at Koele – it’ll be back open by next Christmas).

One of the best parts about visiting Hawaii is getting lei’d. Honolulu Civil Beat’s Denby Fawcett investigates the daily struggles of airport lei sellers.

I stumbled upon this wonderful track by Marc Marzenit, titled The Imaginary Trip To Hawaii from the album To Love Until We Say Goodbye.

It was accompanied by this photo that Marzenit took:
